Before coming to the center

  1. Parents must speak with the preoperative nurse to confirm the last time your child can eat or drink prior to surgery. If your child eats or drinks outside of the scheduled times designated by the preoperative nurse, the planned surgery may be cancelled. Please call the preoperative nurse’s number above
  2. Follow your physician's instructions for surgical preparation completely. If printed instructions were given to you, bring the copy with you to the Surgery Center.
  3. If you are transporting an infant or child that is having surgery, you must be in compliance with the Texas Occupant Restraint Law by providing a legally approved safety seat for the child upon discharge from the facility.
  4. If patient has a Legal Guardian/Representative, it is imperative that a copy of the court appointed documents are given to the preoperative nurse.
  5. Bathe or shower on the morning of surgery.
  6. Omit wearing make-up (especially eye make-up or artificial eye lashes), contact lenses and nail polish.
  7. If you wear glasses, bring them with you as you will be asked to sign documents.
  8. If you wear dentures, do NOT glue them in place as you will be asked to remove these prior to going to the Operating Room.
  9. Leave all jewelry and other valuables at home. Remove all piercings prior to arrival at the surgery center.
  10. At least one parent/legal guardian should stay at the facility during the procedure, and plan to take the patient home following the surgical procedure.
  11. Be prompt in reporting to the Surgery Center at the scheduled time. Call the facility if you have not received a designated time to arrive at the facility prior to the day of your planned procedure.
  12. Bring an empty bottle or sippy cup, as applicable; favorite, small comfort toy; and an extra diaper as applicable.
  13. Call your child’s pediatrician for the correct dosages for Children’s Tylenol and or Motrin.
  14. Bring your driver’s license/identification and your insurance card with you on the date of the procedure.
  15. Consult with a member of the business office related to your financial obligations prior to the day of your procedure.
  16. If you have questions regarding returning to school and or activities, please ask your surgeon.

Visitors

  1. Two visitors at a time are allowed to remain with the patient in the pre-operative and recovery areas.
  2. Other visitors can wait in the waiting room.
  3. Besides the patient, no other children under 12 are allowed in the clinical areas.
  4. No cellular phones in the facility.

Instrucciones preoperatorias: antes de llegar al centro

  1. Los padres deben de hablar con la enfermera para confirmar la última hora que su niño(a) puede comer o beber antes de la cirugía. Sí su niño(a) come fuera de las horas que le indico la enfermera, es posible que la cirugía se cancele. Por favor llame a la enfermera al número en la parte de arriba de este formulario.
  2. Siga completamente las instrucciones de su médico para la preparación quirúrgica. Si recibió instrucciones impresas, lleve la copia al Centro Quirúrgico.
  3. Si va a transportar a un bebe o niño que va a ser operado, debe estar en conformidad con la Ley de Texas de sujeción de ocupantes, proporcionando un asiento de seguridad legalmente autorizado para el niño después que sea dado de alta.
  4. Si el paciente tiene un Representante Legal, es muy importante que se facilite una copia a la enfermera del documento que da la corte a este representante
  5. En la mañana del día de la cirugía, tome un baño de tina o regadera.
  6. Evite ponerse maquillaje (especialmente maquillaje en los ojos o pestañas postizas), lentes de contacto y barniz para uñas.
  7. Deje las joyas u otros objetos de valor en casa. Quitese todos los aretes (piercings) antes de llegar al Centro Quirúrgico ya que se le pedirá que se los quite antes de entrar al cuarto de cirugía.
  8. Al menos un padre o representante legal debe de permanecer en las instalaciones durante el procedimiento, y planear, llevar al paciente a la casa después del procedimiento quirúrgico.
  9. Repórtese al Centro Quirúrgico a la hora que se le indicio. Llame al centro el día antes del procedimiento si no se le ha indicado una hora para llegar.
  10. Si es apropiado, traiga un biberón vacío o vaso para beber, un juguete pequeño y cómodo y un pañal adicional.
  11. Llame al pediatra de su niño(a) para la dosis correcta de Tylenol para niños y Motrin.
  12. Traiga su licencia de conducir/identificación y tarjeta de seguro con usted el día del procedimiento.
  13. Consulte con un miembro de la oficina de negocios en cuanto a sus obligaciones financieras antes del día del procedimiento.
  14. Si usted tiene preguntas en cuanto al regreso a la escuela y/o actividades, por favor pregúntele al cirujano.

Visitantes

  1. Se permite que permanezca con el paciente un visitante a la vez, en las áreas preoperatoria y de recuperación.
  2. Otros visitantes pueden estar en la sala de espera.
  3. Aparte del paciente, no se permiten otros niños menores de 12 años en las áreas clínicas.
  4. No se permiten teléfonos celulares en las instalaciones.
